I first saw Avatar at the Feckler in Bristol, a venue on a boat. It was an entirely appropriate setting to see them. They had such a jaunty and energetic sound, like a dark Victorian funfair. There was plenty of hilarious audience interaction from Johannes Eckerström who was born to be a frontman. Avatar exude theatre, in their costumes and their actions and their phenomenal playing is characteristic of the Gothenburg style.
