The Day of the Triffids (first published in 1951) is my favourite science fiction novel. The first chapter is so eerie and gory, that confusion and chaos cause by everyone trying to simultaneously work out what has happened. If it weren’t for this novel, other books and films would not have been as they are. One of my favourite films ’28 Days Later’ begins in very similar manner and sends the same chills down my spine. I’m really fascinated by the topic of a outcomes caused my man’s meddling and manipulation. But stories such as this one show a resilience of man and an ability to survive.
